Zawoja in winter
In the morning you are on skis 1.8 km from the hotel, in the afternoon you come back for the sauna, in the evening you sit in the hot tub while the snow comes down. You pick up the gear here, and the trails are open at any time of year.
Introduction
Zawoja goes quiet in winter. The nearest slope is 1.8 km from the hotel, the chairlift on Mosorny Groń 3.5 km, and the trails are the same ones as in summer – only walked in different gear. You pick the gear up here, so there is no need to load skis into the car.

Nearest: Wojtek, 1.8 km from the hotel. Longer descents: Mosorny Groń, 3.5 km. For a whole day: Pilsko, about an hour’s drive.

Do you have to bring your own gear?
No. The Jawor rental is right by the hotel and hires out skis, snowboards, sledges, boots and helmets – in children’s sizes too.
For winter trails you can hire crampons and snowshoes. A helmet is compulsory and comes with the set, for adults as well. In the school holidays and over long weekends it is worth ringing ahead to reserve the sizes.

Can you walk the trails in winter?
Yes – the trails around Zawoja are open all year. The gear changes: crampons for ice, snowshoes for fresh snow.
In winter it is worth choosing the lower ranges. Jałowiec is 1111 m, Lachów Groń 1045 m – the climbs are gentler and most of the route runs through forest, where there is less wind. Higher up, on the ridge of Babia Góra or Polica, conditions can be demanding and they change fast.
Set off early: a winter day is short and it is better to be back before dusk. Before you go, check the forecast and the current notices from Babia Góra National Park, and in the morning ask at reception about the current conditions.

What is there after the slope?
The sauna area opens at 15:00 – exactly when most people come off the slope. The outdoor hot tub heats to 34–36 °C even in a hard frost.

What goes on in the school holidays?
In the winter school holidays we serve soup after the slope between 13:00 and 14:00, and there is plenty to fill the evenings: activities for children three times a week, a campfire with a highlander band every Tuesday, family film nights with popcorn and cookery workshops for children – all of it in the price of the holiday package.

The paddling pool and the playground cost nothing extra, and in the club on level −1 there are two bowling lanes – PLN 70 per hour, booked at reception.

Christmas below Babia Góra
We bring the Christmas Eve supper to the table at 16:00 – regional cooking, a present at every place setting, and Father Christmas hands out the ones you brought with you. We open Christmas bookings in the summer, because there are only as many dates as there are rooms.

Does the outdoor hot tub run in winter?
Yes, the outdoor hot tub runs all year and heats to 34–36 °C even in a hard frost. We open it at 15:00, together with the sauna area, and close it at 22:00. The pool and the indoor hot tub are open from 6:00 – all of it included in the price of your stay.
